Title: the Stress of Christmas: Uncle Charlie Comes to Town
Tags:
Blog Entry: We all approach Christmas pretty much the same way. We go to the mall or store seeking out gifts we cen give to family members that we can afford and then we place them under the tree. The stress comes when dealing with those favorite in laws or Uncles and aunts that come to spend the holidays with you. You have to put on your best face and hope for the best. I am not going to say I am very good at it. In fact, I stink at it. I think the best thing to do is to just talk to your least favorite people and just bear it for the sake of your loved ones. After all, it is the season to be pretend to be jolly! I think Jesus would want you to be honest, but in some cases honesty can really bring the house down so I think Jesus would want you to be diplomatic about things too. [br][br] I had a very unusual holiday. My brother in law came to our house to visit with his sister for the Christmas holiday. He seemed ok at first. On the first couple of days here he was full of energy to do things and then as Christmas came he was really down and slept a lot. In fact my brother in law on the day after Christmas got up to eat for dinner after sleeping all day  and then went back to sleep.  [br][br]  Was there stress over the holidays? Yes, but it was limited to the brief times that my brother in law was up. On Christmas day he did get up to go to his father's house with us, where he fought with his brother. My wife and I just pretty much kept him a part and she ended up taking him back to the house to sleep some more. In the end, my wife feels that she was able to talk and visit with him so I guess it was all worth it.  My wife was able to make peace with her mother over Christmas. On Christmas day she went to her mother's house after not seeing her sine cwe moved into our new house in October. Mother was feeling bad because we use to live on her property and we left her. She acted like nothing had ever happened so my wife was able to mend the fence there. Mending fences was the theme this month for the holiday season. I guess it is a good time to do so. The holiday season is full of surprises. It is a time when Jesus asks us to swallow our pride and make peace. Afte all, it is the month we celebrate the coming of the "Prince of Peace" so what a fitting month to so. I am happy for my wife that she was able to mend fences and be with the brother she loves no matter how big a pain in the tooter he is .  Hope you all had a good Christmas and I wish the best for you all in the New Year.
