Although Forbes recently stated that the Porn industry is not mainstream and it is exaggerating its profits, it still is a problem in our country.
-89% of Porn is created in the US.
-2.84 billion in revenue was generated from US. porn sites.
-72% of porn viewers are men.
-260 new porn sites go online daily.
A sexual addiction can be cured. Addiction to Porn takes time and it takes will power. The first thing you have to do is to admit that you have a problem. The nest thing you have to do is to ask for God's forgiveness. God must be a part of your cure. Promising yourself you will not view porn will not keep you from viewing porn this is why you must bring God into it. Then install a filter system on your computer that keeps porn from being viewed on the computer. This will slow you down. Also you need support form your family and a close friend. A person you can call for support and lean on. Consider counseling and do not be shy in seeking help.
The battle will not be easy. It is a battle with your inner demons that if you do not control it will consume your life and like drugs could lead to other sexual appetites. In a world now where you can fulfill almost any sexual appetite, desexing your life can then take some major counseling if you do not stifle your porn demon. The battle with porn probably started with your relationship with your parents. Most problems with sex start with your parents in ability to talk about sex.
In an age where parents spend a wopping 3 1/2 minutes per week in meaningful conversation with their kids according to Fox New, talking about Porn can be taxing but it must happen. Openly talk about porn with your kids and let them know that it can be like a drug that they do not want to get involved in. Healthy sex lives start with the parents setting boundaries and bring the kids up with God. When you speak with teens give them solid answers of why porn should not be viewed. "Because I said so." Really does not cut it anymore. Along with new technology must come with better pat answers.
Have a physical relationship with your kids computer. One way to keep tabs on your kids computer is to put a filter on their computer too. Also do not let them have a computer in their rooms. Put the computer in a public place like the kitchen so they have no private viewing. Review their browser history as often as possible and actually look at the sights they are visiting.
This all takes efforts. Some of these methods can be applied to other loved ones in the family suffering from porn addiction. If you have a porn addict in your life their computer must be an open book along with their life. They should have no problems accounting for their whereabouts and should feel happy that you are looking over their shoulder keeping them honest on the internet.
One more thing that you should know about porn addiction. It is a disease that overwhelms your life. It is something that God needs to heal you from. Part of that healing is returning to Church and listening to God's word and receiving God's blessing. Prayer is healing. Being honest with God is the first start to healing yourself.
