Unbelievable death and destruction with a history of bad storms here in the USA. Pictures are surreal perhaps because the destruction had no prejudices on what it destroyed. I think it is time that we start thinking of new shapes of our homes to stand up to such tremendous winds. There are such shapes and materials and not expensive either, but we have to change our ways of thinking. Think Igloo or domed homes. I did a search on this subject and I was surprised to find many really nice looking homes that would stand up a lot better to such violent storms like we have recently seen. Cement reinforced domed shaped structures are not only feasible but practical. They could easily be built near to the damaged areas and built on site with prefabricated forms used to pour the cement. I’m no expert here, but I know it is doable. Richard Williams aka Corporal Willy cplrich@cox.net
