God Changing History
Posted On 11/20/2011 03:24:11 by Gozitan
Politicians who are supposed to generate prosperity often put at risk the destiny of entire nations. The malpractice of governments is often the cause of social inequilibrium. In the past the feast of Christ the King was celebrated by totalitarian regimes that used religion to rubber-stamp their political ideologies. But nothing is further than the truth of Christ the Good Shepherd than that which serves to wound rather than to heal. God's kingdom is justice, love and peace; work in progress for a better world. All that destroys life and brings death, (man's enemies), are God's enemies. God's Kingdom is being built on love and justice, leading away from every authority and power. The kingdom of God can never be translated into a political system. The deeds of the kingdom are: solidarity with the hungry, the thirsty, the strangers, those who are naked, sick and in prison; persons difficult to be integrated in our political systems. The validity of our Christian mission depends on our solidarity with the poor. As long as there are poor and oppressed people in the world, there will be an utopian hope to change the course of history. Ezekiel, this Sunday, is inaugurating a new time, putting religion in the heart above any form of religious government. Today we need new prophets who courageously proclaim the truth that sets people free.
