Mormon Faith does Not Make Sense To Me
Posted On 07/28/2009 00:20:37 by vernpaul
The Mormon's have a beautiful faith. The people are wonderful and I really enjoy sharing their spiritual energy but I just do not understand where they are coming from yet.

They talk about this great Apostasy that happened between 100 ad and 200 AD. They explain Apostasy as meaning a time where all of Christianity went bad at one time. In other words the Church was so corrupt that the present day Church is a lie. Heretics in the founding fathers supposedly lead the church astray. This means that today's church is not what Jesus wanted.

Catholic scholars contend that if there was this great Apostasy then there should be a historical record of this taking place like there was of the protestant reformation but there is none. Mormon's quote scripture, from KJV stating Matt. 7:15, Acts 20:29 and 2 Thes.2:3 all point to a great Apostasy. On the other hand Catholic Bible scholars contend that this scripture points to the end of time not the time that the Mormons state. If there is no evidence of this Apostasy then there is no need for Joseph Smith to reestablish the church's apostolic priesthood. This is what the Mormons church is all about! The church was so corrupt that Joseph Smith had to meet with Christ to reestablish the priesthood. So far the Mormons have not convinced me that there ever was a need for ole J. Smith. Jesus gave Peter the Authority by giving him the Keys. Jesus built his Church on Peter the Rock! Meaning that Jesus would never leave the church. Matthew 16:18 "I for my part declare to you, you are rock and on this rock I build my Church, and the jaws of death shall not prevail against it." Meaning nothing can destroy this church and Jesus will always be with the Church! The bottom line is that scripture supports a permanent Church and one that will remain with us to the end of days. Please if you feel differently I want to hear it.
