The Seven Deadly Sins

Pride
Covetousness
Lust
Anger
Gluttony
Envy
S loth

These are things we ought to think about before we go to confession. Many Catholics are taught that it is important to confess your sins at least once a month. And I find that it really helps us to recognize our sin even quicker when we acknowledge it more often. Our eyes become clearer to seeing our sin. It is wonderful if you are able to confess on a regular weekly or monthly basis before you receive the Holy Eucharist.

The Act of Contrition

My God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You and I detest my sins because I fear the loss of heaven and the pain of Hell, but most of all because they offend you, my God, who are so good and deserving of all my love, and I firmly resolve with the help of your grace never more to offend you, and to amend my life. Amen.

There are many versions of the Act of Contrition. Pick the one you are most comfortable to say at Confession.

Yes, The Gift of the Holy Spirit is absolutely amazing. I believe it is one of the Greatest Gifts of the Catholic church that has been given to the people. I must admit I am abit sad that our children have to wait until high school before they actually receive it. But I believe our children need it at a much younger age. Times are getting more difficult and decisions are becoming more chaotic for teenagers because of the media they are faced with and the realities they are aware of so early on in life.

Thank you for sharing Gozitan. Love that idea!

With the Act of Contrition, I add Seven "Glory be to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit...."
Besides forgiveness, we are given the fruit of the Holy Spirit: LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS,GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS AND SELF-CONTROL.
We often think we'll find joy in material things; but true and lasting joy and peace comes only from the Holy Spirit.
