I was reading a recent article in The Messenger that talked about letting God run your life and having trust in God. Life went south for a bit. My job was getting dull and my wife came down with cancer I then decided to try and listen to God a bit more. I decided to listen to God and put more trust in God in this matter. So far as far as good things happening things are going well. God has led me to a new job with a newspaper. He also has kept my current wife from becoming seriously ill. The bottom line is he has answered all our prayers.
Keeping God in your life other than on Sunday can be a full time job. Things get in the way. You have to go to work. The kids have needs. It becomes a real challenge to find time to speak to God. Not to mention your relationship with your spouse. A relationship with God often gets pushed a side because it is a lesser of a priority and only becomes high on the list when you need something in an emergency. We must remember though that God is not wanting from us. He desires a personal relationship with all of us but forgives us when we push him aside.
I bring God into my life by surrounding myself with reminders of Christ. Some suggestions:
• Hanging a crucifix in every room or pictures • Place reading material throughout the house in strategic places in the house, on the coffee table, on your favorite book case, or even in the bathroom. • Listen to God on your CD player. • If you drive a lot, place a rosary in the car. • If you spend time in an office, use a religious calendar in the office, a subtle way of getting God into work without offending anyone. • Read the Bible Daily • Subscribe to magazines • Go to Daily mass • Volunteer at your local church
These little reminders can be used to tell you to pray quietly to our Lord and Savior. Even little prayers are listened to.
