Who Will be Saved ?

There seems to be a contradiction, this Sunday, between first reading from Isaiah and the Gospel of Luke. While Isaiah proclaims the universality of God's salvation, Luke somewhat narrows it down and conditions it. Isaiah speaks of the Holy Mountain where the Lord will 'gather the nations of every kingdom'. Near the end of our recent trip to Oregon, Rebecca and I stopped in to visit with my elderly great-grandfather. Very few things get me so irate that I have to write. lol, Ok, I take that one back, but still this one just torqued me the wrong way. Leave the Monks alone for Pete's Sake! This whole Monk thing in Louisiana has got me going. If you do not know the story, some Benedictine Monks want to sell caskets to make some more money. They sell these beautiful but simple handcrafted caskets to benefit the monastery and the local funeral directors said that was a no-no. They took the monks to court and sued... Read More
