What do we do as Catholics with the poor when so many of us are on the poverty line ourselves. The interesting thing about us Catholics is that even when faced with our own poverty we continue to give to those in need despite the economic situation.

We may not be giving great gobs of money to the local Catholic Charities office but at least those charities are still alive and kicking. As Catholics we learn at an early age to put that dollar in the basket to keep the church going.... Read More

Joseph Zaroun Maklouf was raised by an uncle because his father, a mule driver, died when Joseph was only three. At the age of 23, Joseph joined the Monastery of St. Maron at Annaya, Lebanon, and took the name Sharbel in honor of a second-century martyr.
